Vice President, Innovation and Business Development
Joining Virbac in 2014 as VP Business Development, Alan is now responsible for driving growth and expansion of Virbac North America through internal and external development or the acquisition of new products. This includes identifying and evaluating new market opportunities, managing and executing external business development initiatives, and leading teams responsible for product development, research and development, regulatory affairs, technology innovation, and in-market maintenance. Alan has dedicated his entire career to animal health. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Glasgow, as well as an MBA from Henley Business School in the United Kingdom. For the first decade of his career, Alan worked as a licensed veterinarian, gaining broad clinical and surgical experience across all species in various parts of the world, including the U.K., Zimbabwe, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Transitioning to the industry side of animal health, he became the Company Veterinary Officer for PetSmart U.K., moving into pharmaceuticals, he served as the European Director of e-business for Merial-Europe, based in Lyon, France. After relocating to the U.S. in 2005, Alan entered the Business Development field, where he led Business Development for North America and Global Pets at Merial, Ltd.
