Welcome to the dog days of summer! The dog days refer to the hottest time during the summer spanning from early July into August and coincide with the rising of the Dog Star, Sirius.  Sirius is the brightest star in the Canis Major (meaning “Greater Dog”) constellation.  

Basset Hounds are a jovial, mischievous, loyal and stubborn breed!  And might I mention, they are some of the cutest puppies out there!  They make a wonderful family dog given their low-key demeanor and social nature. 

This may very well be the most commonly asked question of veterinarians, without an overwhelmingly scientific answer!
